There will be a second date of Sunday, May 30 to return your equipment that has been leased from the league.

Equipment can be dropped off at the rink parking lot between the hours of 2:00 pm and 3:00pm on that day.

John Scott will take your returns and then return to you your deposit check.

Season End

I know you have been waiting, hoping, praying for good news concerning our old rink, new rink and completion of our season, however, given the news, trying to find the words to convey the message has been very difficult. Our spring season has officially been declared over. This is for many reasons surrounding the current state of our facility, but none more important than the safety of all our participants, spectators and volunteers. The decontamination of the facility will take a great deal of time and effort to complete as will parks inspection and ultimately their decision to allow play to resume. So rather than delay and keep everyone wondering we took a vote as a Board and declared this season over so that we may concentrate our efforts into getting our new rink and equipment/facility ready for fall season.

As for player rental equipment returns�please contact your players/parents and let them know that John Scott will be at our rink parking lot this Saturday May, 22^nd from 10am � 2pm. Deposit checks will be returned upon receipt of equipment otherwise their checks will be deposited to the league as agreed.

League Members, May 11, 2010

I wanted to take just a few moments to update each of you concerning the rink, and the status of our league/current season.

Yesterday(Monday the 10th)was the first chance that I've had to walk through our facility. John Scott and I were allowed to view the damage, and I have to report that it was extensive throughout.

The concession building was destroyed on the inside, as was all of the appliances, fund raising items, and concession products.

The garage, was much the same. Our equipment if not ruined is in the least soiled and contaminated. We are looking at having what can be salvaged being shipped up to Indiana. There is company there that does reconditioning of sports equipment, and the director of county parks, Chris Kummer has made that offer to us, with the cost of that process being covered by the parks department.

As for the rink, we have some serious problems with the structure. One side has been compromised by having had the securing plates that hold the boards to the surface, weakened. The rink is very unstable on the spectators' side. This issue being addressed and corrected is a must if we intend to resume our season. At this time, the repairs cannot even be attempted because of the contamination of the structure.

We have a lot of cleaning up to do. The rink surface and boards are covered in a combination of lake bottom soil, and other bacterial matter. The clean-up proces has started, but the total length of time needed to complete it is still not known.

I have been asked by Chris Kummer, to wait one more week before making a statement one way or the other as the whether our season might be able to resume, or must be cancelled.

I plan to make a formal announcement by the end of this week as to if we resume or shut it down for the rest of this season.

Our board is fully involved and aware of the current state of our facilites and each of us are working in cooperation with parks on all of this.

Flood News

To all of our league's patrons, parents and players,

I regret having to address this issue, but I do feel that each of you deserve to be kept informed on a formal basis as to the status of our current season.

This season is currently on hold. The Parks and Recreation department has closed all of the park facilities within Warren County that have been affected by the flood from last weekend, for no less than ten days, starting on Monday - May, the third.

Last evening...Monday - May, 3rd. we met as a board and the following questions were brought forward by the board's membership. Some of these questions relate specific to our league membership on the whole. Some do apply only to the members of our board.
Below is a listing of the more relevant questions / answers that were dealt with during last evening's board meeting.

How does this situation then impact our current season?

Of course all practices and game have been suspended. Until such time that I receive notice from the Park's director that is it safe to enter our facility, a complete assessment of the damage done cannot be made.
At the present time, it is a "wait and see" situation. The waters have at this point caused substantial damage to rink, concessions building, and garage and those items inside those building are assumed to be ruined.
The rink specific, is leaning inward badly in certain areas. The assumption here too, is that once the water does recede we will see the rink's walls fall inward on the spectator's side of the rink, in the least. These factors may not come to be, but we as a board are operating under the assumptions that the damage will be substantial to our facility on the whole.

Can we make those needed repairs to the rink once allowed into the facility, in order to allow us to finish our season?

At this time, the board is operating under the assumption that there will not be time to accomplish this. We may see less damage then is predicted, but the whole area is considered to be contaminated and would have to be fully decontaminated and brought to a safe standard before we would be allowed to resume operations. Again the board is operating at this time with the assumption being that our rink will not be playable again for the remainder of this current season.

Is there any way we might be able to hold games at another venue, or setting?

We has a board are going to contact USA HOCKEY INLINE and petition their help on this matter. Rob Levesque is going to enquire as to whether USA might be able and willing to provide for us inflatable rinks for the purpose of holding a one day season ending tournament.
This is something that we will update each of you on once we do have USA's answer regarding this request.

Are there any other facilities that we might be able to use, on a one day basis in order to at least hold our championship playoffs?

Unfortunately all the facilities within a reasonable driving distance of Bowling Green have been destroyed due to flooding. Hendersonville, as well as the five other rinks used by Youth Inc. , in the greater Nashville area have all been ruined due to the flooding throughout the state of TN.
Inline hockey within the two state region of KY. and TN. has been virtually wiped out in relation to facilities to play.

Will the nomination process and election process for new board members be allowed to move forward as planned?

At this time, the nomination process and thus elections as well have been put on hold. The exact time that nominations will be again excepted, and the resulting voting process being held, is still unknown or determined. We will resume that process as soon as we feel, as a board that our league can once again gather in a league setting ( games ). Most likely, that will be at the start-up of next season, (Fall 2010).
The current board members whose terms' were to expire within this month (May), have agreed to stay on and serve until such time as we have made our way through the current crisis situation surrounding our league.
Notification of this policy change on a temporary basis, has been made to the Director of Parks and Recreation, Chris Kummer.

What is the current status on the new rink project and will it move forward, post flood conditions?

We are assuming that there may be delays of course in the construction of the new rink. The required completion date, per the contract with IKON construction was to be July 12, 2010. At this time, it is not known when IKON will be allowed to go back onto the site, or when it will be allowed to resume the work that had been started a little over three weeks ago.
We are operating as a board, with full intentions of starting our Fall season on time. This is again of course dependant on Park's determination as to when the construction will be allowed to resume.

Is there anything that you as a parent, or adult player can do to help out at this time?

At such time, that we are allowed to enter our facility I assume all the hands willing, able and available will be needed to work on clean up projects concerning our facility. I would ask all of you that are able, to lend a hand in this process, when that time comes.

How often will updates concerning our league be made available to its membership?

I assure you that I will do my best to keep each of you as informed as I possibly can concerning the future status of our league, and our facilities. I as well as the balance of the board for WCIHL will be working closely with the Director of Parks and Recreation in the coming weeks and any information that we have, we will freely share with each of you.

Monday May, 3 - 2010

As most of you are aware by now I'm sure, our facility took a terrible hit this past weekend due to the flooding.

We are very much now at the mercy of the resulting condition of our rink, after the water subsides.

At the present time, all games and practices have been suspended for the next ten (10 ) days.

We as a board for WCIHL will be meeting this evening to dicuss the situation, and what directions we will take after that ten day period has ended. The ten day stipulation, is a directive handed down by the Director of Parks and Recreation, Chris Kummer. Chris has stated to me this morning that it will be at least that long before a review of all the damage Parks-wide can be brought forward.

This is a very sad day for WCIHL. So many have worked for so long to sustain what we have, and now the chance of that being lost is more possible, than not.

Hockey is important and as remained an important option for so many as far as a recreational outlet. I am truly broken hearted today concerning our future. I would hope that each of you would stay true to our league, no matter the current setbacks and as well any further setbacks we may encounter.

Hello Coaches!!

We are planning for our All Star event on May 8th! We want to get everything together as soon as possible. With the said I am going to be needing this information

by 6pm on April 16th This will give everyone two weeks from today to get this all together. Below is the information I will be needing.

Listed below is the numbers of player we will need for each team. You will also see the skill competition list. Please let me know what players will be competing in each skill.

Squirts

3 skaters and 1 goalie from each team.

Bantams

4 skaters and 1 goalie for each team.

Midgets

6 Skaters and 1 goalie for each team.

Adults

4 Skaters and 1 Goalie from each team.

Listed here are the Skills and number of players required for each one. The squirts will only do Fastest Skater,Pepper drill,Shoot out and Hardest shot.

Fastest Skater = 4 players

Pepper Drill = 4 players and goalie

Shoot Out = 5 players and goalie

Hardest Shot = 4 players

Accuracy Shot = 3 players

The deadline for team Sponsorship money needing to have been turned in has come and gone.

The date of that deadline was Friday, March 19th.

We still do have a few coaches that have not provided that money to the league.

Today...Wednesday March 24th ....those coaches will be notified that they can no longer

use the rink for practices, or have their team take part in games until that money is turned in to either Bud

Agnew or Susan Moore.

Those coaches still without sponsor's will be notified today by the head of coaches, Bud Agnew concerning this issue.
